When I try to download a file it is no longer saving as a zipped file. Instead it is saving as a Windows media player file and i cant change it. Once downloaded i cant unzip, transfer, or do anything with file except play in media player as one huge file. no track numbers, nothing. any suggestions?

It sounds like he is talking about one of those new SugarMegs listings. Entire sets and whole shows are in one huge segment. Most of those are in the WMA format and a few are Real Audio.

The tracks can be split using a wave editor. There are free programs to do this and the commercial Nero software package includes one too...

It sounds like you're downloading something from a different collection. Not all music on archive.org is from the Live Music Archive. LMA filesets should be SHN or FLAC only, not WMA files. There are WMAs in the new sugarmegs collection; that might be what you've found.
